Otter Rock, Oregon Coast

Otter Rock, near Depoe Bay, Oregon, is home to Sea Otters, as well as flocks of migrating seabirds. Situated only half a mile off shore, it seems close, yet is guarded by a treacherous shallow, rocky swim.

Night Sky in Zion National Park

Zion National Park, UT. The tree is lit from streetlamps of the nearby lodge, while the starry background is illuminated by the outer edge of the Milky Way galaxy – only seen in the Northern hemisphere during Winter months.

Oregon Coast

This photo was taken near Bay City, Oregon, just outside of Tillamook. Much of the Oregon Coast is a mix of sandy beaches, shear rock cliffs and large bays formed by countless years of rough seas. On a nice day, a drive down highway 101 makes for a great trip.

Bay City, OR

Midtown Manhattan

New York City is a special place – a vibrant, thriving metropolis so classic that to some, it may be the center of the universe. Naturally, it is difficult to capture the essence of place so complex with something as simple as a photo, yet  it is attempted by many who visit. Out of the many tried and true places for stunning views of the towering highrises and bright lights of New York, one of them, in my opinion, is by far the most breathtaking. A simple bus or ferry ride across the Hudson River to Weehawken, New Jersey provides a view into the living, breathing entity that is New York. The panoramic vista atop the hill that is home to Ft. Hamilton Park allows one to see as far north as the George Washington Bridge and as far south as the Statue of Liberty and the rising World Trade Center. It is easy to get lost in the excitement inside the amazing place that is New York City, but to look into this vibrant metropolis from the outside provides a sense of scale that is simply mindblowing.

Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon, located near Page, AZ, is a peculiar and interesting place. This location is one of the most photographed places in Arizona besides its neighbor, the Grand Canyon. Besides its fame to photographers and desert enthusiasts alike, the canyon is a sacred place to the Navajo people. Despite its beauty, hidden danger exists within the canyon itself, boasting clues of its hazards for the keen. Smooth sandstone walls, the occasional log stuck high up in the curves of the canyon and a lack of any life within the shade of its confines are tell-tale signs of one of the many threats of this arid desert: flash floods. Rare desert rains, occurring at any point upstream of Antelope Canyon can cause a sudden rise of water levels within the walls, filling it up to the brim. In fact, in August 1997, a sudden rain miles up from the canyon wash caused a flash flood, killing 11 tourists – only sparing their Navajo guide. Despite this underlying danger, Antelope Canyon remains one of the most unique places in American Southwest. It’s beauty is incredibly special and certainly a destination worth visiting on a visit to Northern Arizona.
